China is a big foundry country. Since 2001, foundry enterprises have ranked first in the world for many years. The total output of castings accounts for about 40% of the world's output.
The foundry industry belongs to the industry with high energy consumption and serious pollution. In the production process, the most serious environmental pollution is solid waste and air pollution. The emission of three wastes (dust, waste gas, waste sand and waste residue) per ton of casting production in China is 10 times of that in some developed countries. The characteristics of air pollution in foundry are: scattered pollution sources, low concentration and large amount of gas. Among the 188 kinds of dangerous air pollutants listed by the US Environmental Protection Agency, more than 40 kinds have been detected in the waste gas of casting, which is harmful to the environment and human health
2. Solutions to environmental pollution in China's foundry industry in the era of intelligent manufacturing
Foundry industry is a serious environmental pollution industry characterized by waste sand, waste residue and smoke emission. The key point of emission reduction is to use advanced molding materials and processes to reduce the amount of waste sand and comprehensive utilization of waste sand and slag. In addition, it is necessary to improve the efficiency of smelting equipment, strengthen the control of smoke and dust, and reduce the emission of waste gas and dust. It is mainly divided into the following two aspects:
(1) adopt advanced technology, equipment and modeling materials to reduce the generation of pollutants

The casting quality and dimensional accuracy can be compared with resin sand.
(2) adopt the new technology of recycling foundry waste to reduce the emission of foundry waste
Including the recycling and comprehensive utilization technology of foundry waste, the annual consumption of sand in the U.S. foundry industry is about 5 million tons, and the used sand after casting is used for highway base materials. Dust from the foundry integrator can be used to make water purification agents. Because the dust discharged from smelting furnace contains zinc oxide, which has good deodorization effect, the dust discharged from smelting furnace can be used as casting deodorizer. The coke powder produced in cupola casting can be formed to produce coke products with high strength, high calorific value and low cost.
